English Tenses

Simple Present Tense

Simple Present Tense used to express habits or general truth/facts. Usually use the words: everyday, always, only, never, ever, still, just, etc..
Example: I go to school everyday

Past Present Future

Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense to indicate pas habits or action that already completed.
Example: She was a shy girl. I went to school yesterday.

To indicate promise or action / condition in the future.
Example: I will send you email. Manchester United will beat Liverpool.

To indicate action that is happening at the time of speaking

Continuous	I was going to school when you arrived You/We were going to school I was not going to school Was I going to school? To indicate uncompleted action of the past. S + was/were + (V+ing) + O	I am going to school now He/She is going to school They/We are going to school I am not going to school Am I going to school? To indicate action that is happening at the time of speaking. S + am/is/are + (V+ing) + O	I will be going to school when you come I will not be going to school when you come Will I be going to school when you come? To indicate what will be going on at some time in the future to indicate planned future events. S + will be + (V+ing) + O
Perfect	I had gone to school We had not gone to school Had they gone to school? To describe one action that happened before another action in the past. S + had + V3 + O	I have gone to school He/She has gone to school I have not gone to school Have I gone to school? Describe actions that occurred in the past but are still relevant to the present. S + have/has + V3 + O	I/We shall have gone to school by the time you arrive You/We/They/He/She will have gone to school I shall not have gone to school Shall I have gone to school? to explain an activity that will be completed by a certain time in the future. S + Shall/Will + had + V3 + O
Perfect Continuous	I had been going to school for 15 minutes when you arrived I had not been going to school Had I been going to school? to describe an action that started in the past and and was still in progress when a second action started. S + had + (V+ing) + O	I have been going to school for 15 minutes I have not been going to school Have I been going to school? to describe an event that started in the past but is still happening in the present. S + have/has + (V+ing) + O	I will have been going to school for 15 minutes  when you arrive I will not have been going to school Will I have been going to school? to talk about an action that will already have started and will still be happening by a certain time in the future.
